Beautiful Nauvoo

I didn't mean for my blog to be a record of my journeyings Only... but... oops! There goes three months. Yesterday my mother and I flew back from Illinois where we visited the historic town of Nauvoo. It was funny, when the rental
car agent asked where we were headed (and fyi, we drove a 2009 Pontiac G5 with less than 250 miles on it!), and my mom said we were goint to Nauvoo, she was so surprised he had no clue where that was! According to church history, Nauvoo was one of the biggest cities of Illinois in the 1840's, comparable to Chicago. However, since then its had some set backs and growth stunts and is currently a very small town. But an amazing town!!

Three days in Nauvoo was not enough. There was so much to do! Of the things available (and we missed alot) we got to see the pageant, take part in the preshow
(sac races, dancing, stilts, games, and more), go on a three mile handcart treck in the mud, watch a musical play, enjoy an old fashion variety show, touch the mississippi river, visit carthage jail, visit a myraid of historical sites, go to the Nauvoo temple, and walk around the visitors center. Those activities with air conditioning were the best! Although the handcart trek could never be traded for any other experience. It was muddy, slick, and arduous to pull that handcart-- and ours was empty!! Compared to what the pioneers did... Our flights and drive out there were more than easy.

Sounds like quite the experience! Very fun stuff! I love "the best activities were those with air conditioning!" So silly! I'm jealous, I wish I could've come along... next time!
