(Sorry if this is too graphic)

The surgery went pretty fast.  We were out of our room and back in about an hour.  We didn't quite know what to expect because everytime a doctor would tell us 1 hour, it would be 3, and nurse would tell us 10 minutes, it would be an hour and a half for the various things throughout the time we were in the hospital.

The "abscese" needed to be drained, and for small childen, the doctors won't trust they will hold still, so they put them under.  We were told the surgery usually involves an incission, and then a little work to get to the abscese to puncture that as well to drain it.  With Analisa, they basically made the small first incission and that is all that was needed.  All the puss and infection came out, along with a blood clot (as it started as a hematoma).  Then they cleaned it out, and put a tube in so it could continue to drain.

As long as the tube was in, we had to stay in the hospital.  Analisa did very well there, and they let us go home Monday.  We kept her entertained with many many activities and toys.  Primary Children's Hospital also has a playroom (for those not contagious) that she loved.  And I was proud of her that she was so brave the whole time, and even kept up on her potty training.  Nights were the hardest, her own bed was a very sore subject.

Now she is on oral antibotics (which she doesn't like, and keeps insisting she doesn't need medicine, she is fine.  I have to bribe her to take it.)  She is bouncing off the walls (and all my furniture) just like normal, I keep reminding her I don't want her to hurt her neck.  Its pretty gross.  Its not stiched closed, so that it can continue to drain any infection.  I'm glad its on the underside of her neck so the scar won't be tooooo noticable.

Now we're going to see if I can have my baby in DECEMBER (never my wish), so we don't have to pay all over again in 2013.  We'll see if that works out.  I'm due January 10th, so its not that far fetched.  I sure am grateful for insurance, that is for SURE.

Wow, what an ordeal! I'm sorry I didn't hear about this until just now. It's tough to watch our little ones go through things things.
